Delivery texts onto your card

No app can read your texts. Your iPhone can send them on, with one Shortcut you make once. About five minutes.

The words it listens for

  • DPD
  • Evri
  • Royal Mail
  • parcel
  • delivery

Read today: DPD (with its one hour slot), Evri, Royal Mail and Amazon delivery texts. Anything else that names a parcel or a delivery is read too, as well as it can be.

    Copy your two things

    In the TurnUp app, tap Home at the bottom. Under Send delivery texts with a Shortcut are The URL and your key, each with Copy. Keep this page open beside it.

    Open Shortcuts

    Open the Shortcuts app (it comes with the iPhone). Tap Automation at the bottom, then + (or New Automation).

    Pick Message

    Scroll to Message and tap it. Tap Message Contains and type DPD. Leave Sender as Anyone.

    Run Immediately

    Choose Run Immediately, and switch off Notify When Run if you would rather not see it each time. Tap Next, then New Blank Automation.

    Add Get Contents of URL

    Tap Add Action, search Get Contents of URL and tap it. Tap URL and paste The URL from the app.

    Make it a POST with your key

    Tap the > arrow on the action. Method: POST. Under Headers tap Add new header: Key X-TurnUp-Key, Text: paste your key.

    Send the message

    Under Request Body choose JSON, tap Add new field → Text. Key: text. For the value, tap it and pick the blue Shortcut Input (it may say Message), then tap that and choose Content. Tap Done.

    Once per word

    Make the same automation again for each of Evri, Royal Mail, parcel and delivery: Shortcuts takes one word per automation. Long-press the first one and Duplicate to save typing.

How you know it worked

The next delivery text lands as a row on Home within a few seconds, and Home says Last text in with the time. To test now, text yourself “DPD: your parcel will be delivered today between 10:00 and 11:00” from another phone.

What travels, and what does not

  • Only the words of the message. Not who sent it, not your number.
  • Your key is in a header, not in the link, so it is not in a screenshot of the URL.
  • Text only, up to 2 KB. A picture is refused.
  • A text that is not a delivery is read and dropped. Nothing is kept but the row.
  • Lost your phone, or shared the key by mistake? Home → New key stops the old one at once.
